There's a buzz among patients of Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker. Dr. Shoemaker has been at the forefront of biotoxin illness for the last 14 years.
The buzz surrounds the VIP or vasoactive intestinal polypeptide. The VIP is a hormone. It contains 28 amino acid residues. It plays a crucial role in the nervous system. It increases the amount of water and electrolytes released from the pancreas and gut. It helps break down fat and glycogen. The list goes on.
Dr. Shoemaker is seeing improvements in VIP levels with the drug aviptadil. For more information check out Pat Sullivan's blog.

Hi Adrea, I used to listen to you on Midday; now I listen to Chris when I can, and sometimes to both of you on Sat.
Friends of our daughter had a bad experience with black mold several yrs. ago in Fayetteville, AR. They were newly married and in a cute little home they had recently purchased. They became lethargic, achy, etc. and were diagnosed with various maladies..mono, low blood sugar, etc. Her mom and sister had to go "nurse" them. Finally, black mold was discovered under their little one story home. They had to have old carpet and floor completely removed and new hardwood floors installed. They fully recovered, and he is now an officer in the marines and both are active and healthy. PTL! I pray a very healthy outcome for your family.

I am so sorry about your families problems. I have been through similar issues with Stachybotris.
I was wondering what blood tests you had done.
I just had a general IgE and later a specific mold antigen profile which was positive for Stachybotris antibodies.
I have heard there are urine tests to test for actual toxins.
Treatment? What did you take?
I tried Questran to bind, had some effect but not dramatic.
I did have MCS for about 1.5 years.
It seemed to resolve on its own.
I invested in a portable Hepa filter with activated carbon.
It does wonders, even if there are spores, toxins or even poisonous fumes the carbon will bind it.
